We invite you to join Russell Wills (paediatrician and previous Children’s Commissioner) who will facilitate an energetic panel discussion with a group of FASD-informed leaders from a variety of sectors who will share their personal perspectives of FASD and their hopes for the revitalised FASD Action Plan.
Health Minister Dr Shane Reti will open the discussion with a recorded introduction.
Panellists:
Tina Lomax – Principal of Kingslea School, which includes a number of satellite schools within Aotearoa’s youth justice facilities around the motu. Tina is also a member of FASD-CAN's Education Advisory Group.
Andrew Galloway – Executive Director of Alcohol HealthWatch. Andrew's background includes alcohol harm reduction at Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS), at the Alcohol Advisory Council of New Zealand (ALAC) and as the northern regional manager with the Health Promotion Agency.
Dr Jamie Speeden – a specialist Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist working with children, young adults and their whānau from his private clinic, Growing Pains, in Tāmaki Makaurau and also in the Waitemata DHB in a local CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) team.
Dr Valerie McGinn – Clinical Neuropsychologist and Clinical Director of the FASD Centre Aotearoa, founding member of FASD-CAN and current Clinical Advisor to FASD-CAN.
Claire Gyde – Claire founded FASD-CAN in 2013 along with a small group of caregivers and professionals. As well as working full time, Claire volunteers as the Chair of the Disability Advisory Group to Oranga Tamariki.
Justan Wilson – Justan has ten years of experience working in the addictions space, both community and residential, with Te Utuhina Manaakitanga – Manaaki Ora Trust. Justan has recently transitioned into a Teen Parent Support role within the Trust, with specific involvement in an FASD kaupapa.
