All over the world, September is known as FASD Awareness Month. And September 9, (09/09) is International FASD Awareness Day.
FASD-CAN held our 2023 Hui on September 9 in Kirikiriroa / Hamilton with a host of national and international speakers.

We again teamed up with our friends at Alcohol Healthwatch in adding to our FASD Awareness Month website. You'll find it here: FASDmonth.nz. This year had a theme of 'I wish' – people affected by FASD (individuals, parents, caregivers, whānau, professionals) sent in what their wishes were around FASD. The results are now online on the Facebook page and Instagram – and you can still submit your wishes here on the FASDmonth.nz website.

Ōtautahi lights up – first city in Aotearoa, first in the world
In 2023 we were stoked to have Ōtautahi / Christchurch come to the party by lighting up landmarks around the city in red. It was the first city in NZ and of course, by virtue of our geography, the first in the world. Thanks to Christchurch City Council for this – next year we're planning for more cities!
Thanks to FASD-CAN member Rachel Bannister for these photos.
