He Ara Tika: a pathway to empower whānau and communities with knowledge to respond to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder / Te Iho Tātai-ā-Rongo.
This free four-hour training is an introduction to FASD - think of it as 'FASD 101'!
It will be held around the motu / country over the coming months – see below for list of regions and registration links (these are being updated as we find venues). He Ara Tika will be helpful for community kaimahi / staff (non-clinical), who are working with people who have or may have FASD, as well as for caregivers, parents and whānau.
The training will offer participants the knowledge and strategies to effectively engage with FASD-related needs. It's also an opportunity to create supportive environments that are FASD-informed.
The training is interwoven with mātauranga Māori.

Aims of the training
This training aims to enable participants to:

• Be able to describe the symptoms (behaviour) that reflects challenges and opportunities related to FASD.
• Learn possible pathways to assess FASD.
• Gain strategies to use in your role and context to respond to FASD-related needs of the person, their whānau & support people.
• Gain opportunities to network with others - both colleagues and other whānau / families.
FASD-CAN is partnering with Te Rau Ora and Te Whatu Ora / Health NZ to deliver these kanohi ki te kanohi / face to face trainings around Aotearoa NZ over the coming months.
