FASD-CAN Navigators: FASD Support in Action

On Wednesday 9 September FASD-CAN’s team of whānau Navigators from around the motu will come together online to talk about their ongoing role in our Awareness Day theme for 2026:

FASD: It takes a Community –
Ka Whai Wāhi Ngā Tangata / Everyone Plays a Part.

You'll learn how our Kaiwhakatere are part of the national community of those caring for people with FASD – supporting caregivers and cross-sector professionals alike with their mahi.

They assist whānau who are dealing with health, education and justice systems (and sometimes other family members, too) who don't understand the complexity and adversity of what they face. Every region around Aotearoa has different support service approaches, and many cross-sector professionals have differing levels of understanding FASD. 

It makes for an interesting mix – no two days are the same! Our Navigators will share the joys and challenges of their roles, and you’ll hear how their own lived experience motivates these wāhine to be passionate about their work.
