Our AGM will be held online on November 9 (a Saturday afternoon) at 4.30pm. We hope all kids sports will have finished, so you have time to join us for 30 minutes!
We need as many of our members there as possible, as we have to legally have a minimum number. If you are not sure whether you are a member of FASD-CAN or not (you might only have signed up to get our newsletter), email Felicity at [email protected] to ask her to check if you're on our database.
If you wish to be actively involved in the AGM (for example, vote, propose a motion or an agenda item) you will need to be a member of FASD-CAN. Join here.
New Board Members
FASD-CAN is looking to fill five Board member positions. These are for a Chair, Treasurer and three Board members. They arise from the completion of the term of office of the current Chair (Leigh Henderson), Treasurer (Ross Porter) and the resignations of two Board members during their terms of office (Diana Kawana and Huriana McRoberts).
Our Chair and Treasurer will be seeking re-election. Earlier this year, Michele Daly, Darryl Roycroft and Harmony Moki were co-opted onto the Board. These three candidates were co-opted as they bring attributes to the Board to complement existing expertise and fill the gaps in our Board structure in bicultural knowledge and connections and in governance expertise. All nominees have lived experience of FASD or neurodisabilities.
However, our constitution requires these co-opted members to be officially voted in by our membership at an AGM. Click here to find more information about each of these candidates, including bios and photos, and to find out about what the Board member role entails.
Nominations for Board members are open to anyone, so if you are interested in nominating yourself or someone else, click here to fill in a nomination form online.
If you wish to raise any discussions or issues at the AGM
There are two ways you can do this:
1. Propose an agenda item
To do this, simply email Felicity at [email protected] and let her know what you would like to suggest as an agenda item, and why. It will need to be approved by the Board before it is added to the agenda.
2. Propose a ‘Member’s Motion’
This is a more formal procedure which will require you to fill in a form. You’ll need to explain why you would like to propose the motion to be voted on (see ‘Member’s Information’). The Board will decide if the members will vote on this motion, unless it’s signed by at least 50% of eligible members, in which case it must go ahead regardless. If it goes ahead, you will need to be present at the AGM to speak about it and get it voted on by other members present.
Click here to fill in a form to propose a motion.
If you wish to propose an agenda item or a motion, you’ll need to do it by 4.00 pm, Thursday 10th of October 2024.
If you can’t be at the AGM but want to vote
As per our Constitution, members can attend the AGM in person (virtually) or can be represented by proxy. This means that even if you can’t be at the AGM, you can vote by appointing someone (a ‘proxy’) who will be at the AGM to vote on your behalf. You will both need to be members of FASD-CAN (join here).
You will need to email Felicity at [email protected] with your name and the name of the person who will vote on your behalf.
If you wish to vote by proxy, you will need to let us know by 4.00pm, Monday 4th of November 2024.
Final agenda for the AGM
Once we have received and approved any extra agenda items or motions (by October 10), we will finalise and circulate our AGM agenda.
