Mahi Aroha: new Carers' Strategy Action Plan launches

Between 500,000 and a million New Zealanders provide unpaid care for family, whānau, aiga, friends and neighbours. Many balance this work with employment, study or raising tamariki.

The new Mahi Aroha Carers’ Strategy Action Plan focuses on three priorities identified by carers: health and wellbeing, financial security, and greater recognition and appreciation.

Unlike previous time-limited plans, Mahi Aroha is designed to be ongoing, with new actions added as others are completed. It brings government agencies together across disability, health, aged care, ACC and children’s services.

FASD-CAN caregivers have contributed to the plan, sharing their experiences and the realities of FASD care. Their input helped ensure the plan reflects carers’ real-world needs – thank you.
