Letitia Dowie-Lewis

FASD Navigator Centre North

[email protected]

Letitia (Teesh) is our Central North FASD Navigator, based in Kirikiriroa, Hamilton. Teesh has had a longstanding volunteer connection with FASD CAN, and we are delighted to now welcome her as one of our kaimahi / staff.

Teesh has been a foster carer for over 30 years and estimates she has supported over 60 tamariki and rangatahi during that time. Her experience spans a wide range of care and advocacy work with organisations including Barnardos, Open Home Foundation, CYFS, and Oranga Tamariki.

Highly FASD informed, Teesh has reshaped her home environment and parenting practice to reflect trauma responsive and neurodiversity-affirming approaches. She is deeply committed to strategies that create safety, connection, and long-term wellbeing for tamariki and rangatahi with complex needs.

Her volunteering over the years has included supporting foster carers, parents, grandparents and whānau, by sharing practical strategies, strengthening routines and helping them navigate the pathways to appropriate services.

Teesh has built a strong knowledge of local and regional referral networks across education, health, disability and Oranga Tamariki systems with the aim of supporting caregivers to connect with the right people and resources at the right time.

In 2024, Teesh received a prestigious Excellence in Foster Care award from Caring Families Aotearoa (CFA), who continue to recognise and celebrate her outstanding mahi and dedication to whānau.

Get in touch with Teesh at [email protected] or text / call her on 020 4188 2981.
