Your stories – tertiary education

FASD-CAN recently interviewed some of our young people with FASD to find out about their experience of tertiary education – any education that happens after high school level.

We wanted to know what their experience were because we were involved with the two-day Neuroabilities Symposium 2023 at Otago Polytech in Dunedin, which was ‘celebrating uniqueness and fostering inclusivity’ in tertiary education.

Thanks to these stories, we were able to let the people at the Symposium know that people with FASD want to succeed, and they can - with the right support! They need a bit of extra help at this level, after getting through primary school and high school.

We are now helping the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) to develop information and resources on their website about FASD following our presentation at the Symposium.

Click below to watch three short videos (3-4 minutes each) of some fantastic rangatahi who told their tertiary education stories.
